Good Business Tips - Water
The average business can save 20 to 50% on bills by managing its water.
Start by checking your water meter and monitoring where you use water – find out if you are using and paying for water you don’t need to.
Understand how you are being charged for water and effluent – find out if you’re being charged correctly.
Leakage and Overflows
- If your use of water is limited to daytime operations it should be nearly zero during the night. Carry out a night flow test, if it's moving you may have a leak, overflow or uncontrolled water use so a further investigation is required.
Reduce use of water
- A substantial amount of water could be being wasted due to urinals operating without flush controls, these typically use 197 - 315 cubic metres of water per year if flushed three times an hour. Savings could be made by installing passive infrared sensors.
Let's talk loos
- By fitting cheap and easy-to-fit retro fit devices to WC's can help make huge savings. Check the suitability and ensure they are fitted correctly.
- Perhaps a siphon mechanism or dual flush would be an advantage and adjust the ball float position and fit a 'Hippo' to make instant savings.
